Grameen Shikkha Mourns the Death of Its Sponsor Professor Nurul Islam
Grameen Shikkha deeply mourns the death of Professor Nurul Islam, the legendary economist and a sponsor of Grameen Shikkha Scholarship Management Program.
Internationally renowned economist Professor Nurul Islam, who played a significant role in the independence of Bangladesh and later became very instrumental in the reconstruction of the country as Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of Bangladesh, was sponsoring three scholarships named “Abdur Rahman Education Scholarship,” “Mohsena Begum Education Scholarship” and “Samia Sara Islam Scholarship” for poor, village children of Bangladesh under Grameen Shikkha management for more than one and a half decades.
His wife Ms. Rowshan Ara Islam and daughter Ms. Roumeen Islam are also sponsoring scholarships for poor children of Bangladesh under Grameen Shikkha management for more than a decade
