The 4th Graduation Ceremony of Japan Automechanic School (JAS) was held on 21 December 2019 at Grameen Bank Auditorium at the Grameen Bank Head Office Complex, Dhaka. Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Laureate and Chairman of Japan Automechanic Ltd. (JAL), presided over the occasion and distributed certificates among graduates. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Tsuneaki Hirao, Managing Director of Japan Automechanic Ltd., Ms. Nurjahan Begum, director of JAL and former Managing Director of Grameen Shikkha, Ms. Lamiya Morshed, Chief Executive of Yunus Centre, and other dignitaries.
JAS was established in 2015 by Japan Automechanic Ltd., a joint venture of Grameen Shikkha, S K Dream Japan and Rangs Workshop Ltd. The school provides two years automechanic training to poor Bangladeshi school-dropout young men in Japanese best practice automechanics and panel beating/painting techniques.
