ID Group of France Supporting Primary Education for Dhaka Slum Children through Grameen Shikkha
With financial assistance from ID Group of France, Grameen Shikkha is conducting a non-formal slum school project called “Grameen Shikkha- IDGROUP TEXEUROP Non-formal Slum School Project” in the slum areas of Mirpur in Dhaka City Corporation since 2014. Nearly 900 poor slum children are receiving primary education at 23 centers in different Sections in Dhaka North City Corporation. A slum school is a five years course; children enroll in grade-1 in a slum school and move through grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 to finally complete primary education after a five years cycle. Public school text books supplied free of cost by local education office of Bangladesh Govdernment are used to teach students in these schools.
